During the late 80’s when Michael Allpress was living in the North West of America his curiosity began to grow about what was influencing the taste of his coffee. He observed that while the origin, preparation and equipment was important, there was something else that every quality cup of coffee he kept tasting shared. That one thing, setting the mediocre and the exceptional apart, was the roast method. Allpress Espresso now roast coffee in Australia, the UK and Japan exclusively using their superior hot air roasting method.
Traditional drum roasting billows smoke as the coffee drops into the cooling tray, but our advantage with Hot Air Roasting is that when the beans hit the cooling tray there is no grey clouds to be seen. This allows the unique character of every bean to shine through and the burnt taste that traditional drum roasting causes to disappear – smoke – to achieve a natural sweetness, smooth taste, and giving the lasting flavour Allpress Espresso is known for.
ALLPRESS ESPRESSO BLEND

Caramel/toffee, sugarcane, milk chocolate, citrus, apple
Allpress have been refining this blend since day one and it’s everything they think espresso should be; sweet, balanced and complex. It’s the flavour Michael Allpress built a business on and it’s still their signature coffee. Allpress are constantly tuning the roast and blend so you get the taste you love in the cup. A sophisticated espresso with plenty going on, hot air roasted to perfection.
The origins of this blend are Brazil, Sumatra, Colombia and Guatemala. The Sumatra and the Brazil provide the base of the blend, working with each other to give body, however the Colombia and the Guatemala beans are the primary sources of acidity, but it is important that they are not too bright so that they provide some sweetness.
Allpress has recently sent few of their team over to Sumatra to visit one of the farms from which they source the coffee that goes into their Espresso Blend.
