Melbourne brothers Steven and Trevor Simmons founded Industry Beans in 2010. Their vision was to roast high-quality specialty coffee in a carefully curated environment of transparency and accessibility, to offer the ultimate coffee experience to their community.
In 2013 they opened the first Industry Beans venue: an all-under-one-roof coffee roastery and brew bar in Fitzroy, Melbourne. There, they won over coffee lovers and everyday brunch-goers alike, becoming internationally recognised for their innovative approaches to coffee roasting and commitment to creating unique hospitality experiences.
After ten years, Industry Beans has grown to now roast coffee and operate cafes in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane, sending specialty coffee to cafes and coffee lovers around Australia and the world.
Newstead Espresso Blend

Newstead is a rich, fruit-driven blend created in celebration of the launch of our café & roastery in Brisbane. Combining the velvety body of a Brazilian pulped natural, and the sweet fruitiness of a natural Ethiopian, it’s sweet and satisfying with milk and deliciously syrupy on its own.
Characteristics of the blend – flavor profile/origin/roast
Tasting notes: Blueberry, Cacao, Hazelnut.
Composition:
50% Sinfonia – Brazil: Pulped natural process, Catuai & Bourbon, 900 – 1500 masl
From the highly acclaimed Mantiqueira de Minas region in the South of Minas Gerais, this small producer lot comprises Yellow Catuai and Yellow Bourbon varietals. This coffee is an exclusive lot to Industry Beans and brings its richness, body and chocolatey notes to the blend.
50% Dari Kojuwa – Ethiopia: Natural process, Heirloom Ethiopian, 1750 – 2100 masl
Dari Kojuwa is a small village located in the Guji region of Ethiopia. This coffee is sourced through smallholder farmers from the village that are on average less than 10 hectares each. This coffee gives the blend its vibrant, fruity character and an enduring sweetness.
Newstead Blend Brew Recipe:
Dose: 18g
Yield: 36g
Shot time: 26 – 30 seconds
Please note – If you are using bigger/smaller baskets then adjust your yield to be double your dose (eg. If your usual dose is 20g, then stick with that and use a 40g yield)
Extraction tips:
A good extraction of our Newstead blend will result in a rich, syrupy espresso with sweet berry notes up front and a decadent chocolate-nut finish. If it is tasting too acidic or savoury, use a finer grind setting and increase your shot time. If it is dry and bitter or lacking acidity then coarsen your grind and decrease your shot time.
