Using the appropriate water with our Home machines is not only beneficial for making great tasting coffee, but is required to help protect the machine and ensure it remains in top condition. It’s also important to use the right water to maintain warranty.
We recommend using filtered water in all La Marzocco machinery. Water quality varies from location to location and state by state, so filtration requirements will change based on your address. If in doubt, please contact us for further advice.
Water used in our machinery needs to satisfy the requirements of the La Marzocco water calculator.
recommended water filtration options
1. Reverse Osmosis System (Recommended)
For optimal machine performance, we highly recommend installing a Reverse Osmosis (RO) system. This can be arranged through one of our technical service partners at an approximate cost of $2,000 – $3,000.
If you’d like more information or a quote, please reach out via phone or email.
2. Filtered tap water
In some locations, a carbon-based filter that removes chlorine, off tastes and particles down to 5 microns will be sufficient.
2. Bottled Water
Using bottled water is an option. However, it is essential the water is tested to ensure it meets our machine parameters. You can use our water calculator to check your bottled water’s suitability.
Please note that many suppliers do change their water makeup, so it is advised to occasionally test water quality with your chosen supplier.
3. Water Filter Jug
Using a water filter jug is suitable for many locations. Our recommendation is to test your water once filtered through the jug to ensure it fits within our recommended parameters, and observe the recommended cartridge change dates.
In all instances, filter maintenance is important. Filter elements are consumable components, so be sure to replace filter cartridges and have maintenance performed according to the manufacturer’s specific recommendations.
refilling your water reservoir
When refilling your water reservoir, be sure to be careful when removing the water draft. See the video below for reference.
